# Reversed computer simulation

As part of the "Anatomy for Engineers" course at the TU Delft we have investigated the possible applications of technology on the human body or vice versa.

We have found a biological principle, Morphogenesis, that is just starting to be used withing structural engineering and will change the way engineers solve some of their problems.

A small introduction:

Morphogenesis is the biological process that causes an organism to develop its shape. It is one of three fundamental aspects of developmental biology along with the control of cell growth and cellular differentiation.

Within structural engineering this implies that the computer will simulate a scenario and determine where material is needed to withstand the demanded loads.

The Solidthinking Inspire package has the capabilities to simulate morphogenesis. It is a complex process but it the workflow can shortly be summarized:

1. Model a "space space": A free space where the model can "grow'

2. Specify loads,forces and constrains

3. Run the morphogenesis

4. Interpret the results and translate them to a model

5. Verify your model with a FEM analysis

6. Start producing your product
